One of the perks of our home is its proximity to the Park of Roses. There are no roses in bloom at the moment, but the kids and I managed to walk through it on Friday, at the end of spring break. They liked running up the spiral staircase and looking down on the garden.

Easter and Spring Break
Easter was nice and relaxing on Sunday, and all the more so since it is followed by a week of spring break. Hard to believe that the kids will have only a little more than a month left when they return to school!
We have nothing exciting planned for the week -- a trip to the nearby library was the highlight of Monday. But the weekend weather looks to be in the 70s or 80s, so hopefully we'll get some outdoor time in at the end of the week. Until then, no plans sounds good.

Car Repairs
My car got hit for the first time ever.
I'm fine, everyone's fine. I was in the car alone, as was the other driver when she pulled out of a parking lot and into the passenger side of my Prius at the end of March. The car is in the process of getting fixed -- the repairs are estimated at a couple of thousand dollars less than what would be considered "totaled," which I'm fine with. I like my vehicle and hate car shopping.
I picked up my rental car last week, and the repairs are scheduled to take two or three weeks. I haven't driven much since it happened, and I'm still a little jumpy, even in the passenger's seat. I'm finally now getting to the point where it's not always the first thing I think about when I wake up and the last thing before I fall asleep. I know it could have been worse and I'm trying to keep it all in perspective, but it's a bit hard. Time.

Atticus Turns 7!
A real birthday party at last, both indoors and with family. The pandemic began just before Atticus's 5th birthday, so he is excited that things are largely back to normal. He is even having his first party with friends this weekend -- two years later than expected!
Atticus is still totally into penguins, so his cake had a penguin theme yet again: Vanilla cake with vanilla frosting dyed blue to look like the ocean, with a cake "iceberg" on top.
7-year old Atticus's favorite ...
