Bridge Over Muddied Waters
Atticus and I took a three-mile walk along the Olentangy River and over a bridge that crosses the River and State Route 315. I’d been under the bridge plenty of times, but never on it!

Atticus Camps for the First Time!
Paul got to share one of his loves with one of our kids this past weekend for the very first time: Camping.
It wasn't quite the camping that Paul is used to. Generally he goes with a group of friends, hikes several miles over the course of a weekend, and carries everything he needs on his back. Instead, this was at a campground with some 2,000 other people.
Paul and Atticus attended a Boy Scout Jamboree on Friday night through Sunday morning, tent camping with his troop and hundreds of other kids and adults from all over. They had lots of activities for the kids, and even fireworks on Saturday night! Atticus was nervous about sleeping in a tent but ended up really liking it. He slept so soundly that Saturday night's lightning -- as bright as a flashlight through the tent, Paul said -- didn't even awaken him.
With the boys gone, Edith and I had the house to ourselves. We watched a movie ("Enola Holmes," by Edith's request), started a new baking show ("Baking Impossible," combining baking and engineering), ate pizza and made a dessert. We visited a few garage sales and the neighborhood farmers' market, which returned to the end of our street for the first time since the pandemic began.
All in all, we all had a great weekend. I suspect it will be the first of many times that our family splits for a day or two!
