Kyoto, Continued

Seeing the temples and shrines in Kyoto was amazing-- I mean, these are structures that were a part of history before America was even a twinkle in the colonists' eyes.

But some of the magic was lost with the crowds, and the pictures can be deceiving. In one direction you'd get a beautiful scene of a temple covered in gold leaf, the picture of solitude. Turn the other direction, however, and you'd see hundreds of people angling for the best shot.

Oh, to be the only tourist in a major tourist destination!
